Today is Monday, and <\/span>I’m<\/span> here with my weekly work report. <\/span>I’ve<\/span> accomplished a ton of things this week.<\/span><\/p>

I severely underestimated the scope of the project I had planned. If I had known how much time and effort it would require, <\/span>I’m<\/span> not sure I would have taken it on\u2014but <\/span>that’s<\/span> beside the point now. What matters is that the majority (a significant majority) of the work on updating\u2014or rather, completely overhauling\u2014the game engine and visual elements is already complete.<\/span><\/p>

Now, let me walk you through <\/span>the details of<\/span> what <\/span>I’ve<\/span> accomplished.<\/span><\/p>

Basic Home Activities<\/strong><\/h3>

First, I finished with the basic <\/span>Lisa’s<\/span> home activities. Most of them I finished earlier, and this week, I replaced the default choice menu that appeared before bedtime (Get up early for work \/ <\/span>Don’t<\/span> go to work tomorrow \/ Make a plan for tomorrow) with an animated screen that includes helpful hints.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Activity System Overhaul<\/strong><\/h3>
\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>

I completely reworked the structure of <\/span>the activities Lisa can engage in<\/span> throughout the day.<\/span> The previous code <\/span>was messy and cumbersome<\/span>, with many implicit connections.<\/span> Adding a system to track new content <\/span>on top of that<\/span> would have been impossible\u2014it would have become a breeding ground for bugs.<\/span><\/p>

Now, <\/span>I’ve<\/span> created a separate class to manage all daily activities. The code has <\/span>been reduced<\/span> tenfold, making it <\/span>much<\/span> simpler<\/span>, <\/span>clearer<\/span>, and easier to modify or expand with new content. The content tracking system is now an integral part of this new structure.<\/span><\/p>

The Activity Choice Screen now displays all possible actions for the current time of day, not just the available ones. Hovering over an action shows a hint. A skip button has also <\/span>been added<\/span>, allowing the player to jump three hours ahead.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Then, I began methodically modifying all the activities that <\/span>weren\u2019t<\/span> ready yet.<\/span><\/p>

The Mall<\/strong><\/h3>

First, I completed the Mall. <\/span>There <\/span>wasn’t<\/span> much<\/span> work to do there.<\/span> The main change I made was removing the randomness in <\/span>image<\/span> display. I replaced it with image sets, similar to what I did in the Bed Play events. Now, the player sees one image from a set of 2 to 4, usually different angles of the same scene. The first time, they see one image; the second time, they can switch between two, and so on. <\/span>This way, over four visits to the mall, the player can view all the content instead of just random selections, with the <\/span>added ability to switch back and forth<\/span> between images within a group.<\/span> I use this approach in many places that <\/span>can be visited<\/span> multiple times during the game.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Beach<\/strong><\/h3>
\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>

The Beach is complete! <\/span>This<\/span> is a <\/span>huge<\/span> part of the game, <\/span>larger<\/span> than any other section.<\/span><\/p>

I fixed a lot of bugs there. Lisa can now order a mojito, which boosts her mood. Plus, the beach hut will always cost $20. <\/span>It’s<\/span> not that Lisa <\/span>couldn’t<\/span> just sunbathe on the sand, but her father raised her to expect a certain level of comfort. <\/span>Working two jobs, Lisa <\/span>won’t<\/span> skimp<\/span> on her relaxation.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Playing beach volleyball is still available from Day 24, when Amy arrives in town. However, it’s no longer necessary to be on Amy’s route or bring her to the beach. If Lisa decides to play, she’ll simply call Amy, Carla, and Mia, and they’ll show up right away\u2014just out of sisterly solidarity. Upon arriving at the beach, the menu offering to change in the large stall has been replaced with an animated screen (all of them are animated and come with hints, so I won’t mention this again moving forward). Even if you weren’t aware it was there before, you definitely won’t miss it now\u2014it will always be displayed with a hint explaining what needs to be done to unlock it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

        Well, that’s about it for now. The <\/span>major<\/span> tasks left are the events with Sandra, <\/span>going through<\/span> the scripted events (there are many, but nothing complicated <\/span>is expected<\/span>), and the Red-Light District. T<\/span>he new content with Jackie from the Adult Boutique has been successfully rendered but h<\/span>asn’t been <\/span>post-processed y<\/span>et <\/span>because I h<\/span>aven’t decided <\/span>what to do with the animations. <\/span>I <\/span>have an idea<\/span> to return to short animations instead of the long, complex ones I usually create. <\/span>These would <\/span>be placed<\/span> in one image set <\/span>with<\/span> the ability to switch between them.<\/span> In some cases, there could <\/span>also<\/span> be buttons to zoom in and watch the most juicy part of the current animation in better detail.
